Spanish giants Barcelona have pressed pause on their attempt to sign Inter Milan star Alessandro Bastoni. The Catalan club wants to improve several areas of their squad this summer. They need a new centre-forward, a winger, a centre-back, and possibly a full-back. Spending too much money on one defender would damage their plans for other positions.

Italian football expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Barcelona do not want to pay more than €50 million for the 27-year-old centre-back. However, Inter Milan value their player much higher. The Italian club expects to receive between €65 million and €70 million. They will not sell their key defender for a lower price.

Bastoni currently plays for Inter in Serie A. He has become one of the best defenders in Italy. Barcelona believe he would strengthen their back line perfectly. Yet the high cost makes the deal difficult for the Spanish side.

The player himself has mixed feelings. Sources say he is open to joining Barcelona. However, he does not want to create problems at his current club. He will not submit a transfer request or demand to leave the San Siro.

No formal offer has arrived at Inter’s offices yet. Talks remain blocked until Barcelona can increase their budget or change their priorities. The situation leaves the transfer in doubt as the summer window approaches.
