England will begin their 2026 World Cup adventure with a Group L match against Croatia. The game will take place at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas. Kick-off is set for 9:00 PM local time on Wednesday, June 17.

The Three Lions enter this clash following a confident 3-0 victory over Costa Rica in their final warm-up match. However, manager Thomas Tuchel still faces difficult decisions regarding his starting eleven.

The biggest question mark hangs over the fitness of Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka. The forward has struggled with an Achilles injury and only played 27 minutes against Costa Rica. Although Saka insists he is fit to play, Tuchel has suggested he may not be ready for a full 90 minutes. Noni Madueke started in his place during the friendly and offers a fresh alternative on the right wing.

In the number ten role, Jude Bellingham and Morgan Rogers are competing for one spot. Bellingham’s ability to cover ground could prove vital against Croatia’s technical midfield. Meanwhile, on the left flank, Anthony Gordon has impressed after a strong showing against Costa Rica. However, Marcus Rashford has reportedly looked sharp in training sessions.

The defence presents another headache for Tuchel. While Marc Guehi appears certain to start in the centre of the back line, his partner remains unclear. John Stones brings experience but lacks match fitness. Ezri Konsa offers a more athletic option and has played more regularly for Aston Villa. The pair started together in the Costa Rica friendly.

Other positions appear settled. Jordan Pickford will guard the goal. Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson look set to control the midfield. Captain Harry Kane will lead the attack as England seek a winning start to their tournament.
