VfB Stuttgart have rejected an approach from Hull City for right-back Josha Vagnoman. The newly-promoted Premier League side enquired about the 25-year-old but were informed that a temporary move is not under consideration.
Loan bid rebuffed
Hull City tabled an enquiry for Vagnoman, though they were only interested in a loan arrangement. Stuttgart have made clear that such a deal is not an option. Even a permanent transfer is considered unlikely at this stage.
The Bundesliga club are reluctant to weaken their defensive resources as they prepare for a demanding season. Vagnoman’s contract runs until 2028, giving Stuttgart strong control over his immediate future.
Squad depth crucial for European campaign
Stuttgart’s stance reflects their determination to maintain a deep squad for their return to the Champions League. Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß has emphasised that retaining key players is essential ahead of a challenging schedule.
“We are heading into a Champions League season. We already experienced two years ago that this is demanding. That’s why it will be important that we have a very strong team ready to go,” Hoeneß said.
The need for defensive cover has become more pressing following an injury to Lorenz Assignon. The fellow right-back recently underwent shoulder surgery and is expected to miss several weeks, leaving Vagnoman as vital cover on the right side of defence.
With Stuttgart aiming to keep their core group together for European competition, Vagnoman appears set to remain in Germany despite Hull City’s interest.
