Juventus are exploring alternative striking options after failing to meet Paris Saint-Germain‘s €50 million valuation for Randal Kolo Muani. The Italian club had hoped to secure the French forward permanently following a productive loan spell, but negotiations have stalled over the transfer fee.
Kolo Muani scored eight goals in 16 Serie A appearances during the second half of the 2024-25 season while on loan in Turin. Despite his contributions, Juventus have not taken further steps to match PSG’s asking price, according to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio. The French champions are maintaining their firm €50m stance, leaving the deal in limbo although not yet completely dead.
Mateta emerges as primary alternative
With the Kolo Muani transfer looking increasingly difficult, Juventus have identified Crystal Palace forward Jean-Phillipe Mateta as their leading backup plan. The France international has currently paused negotiations over a new contract with the Premier League club as he holds out for a move to a top European side.
This is not the first time Juventus have attempted to sign Mateta. During the January transfer window, they offered a loan deal with a €33m option to buy, but the move collapsed when Milan entered the bidding. Milan subsequently withdrew their interest due to medical concerns, allowing Mateta to remain at Selhurst Park until the end of the season.
Further targets under consideration
Should moves for both Kolo Muani and Mateta fail, Juventus are also monitoring Parma’s Mateo Pellegrino and Atletico Madrid’s Alexander Sorloth. While talks with PSG are not yet at a complete standstill, the Bianconeri are actively preparing multiple avenues to strengthen their attacking options before the transfer window closes. The coming days will likely determine whether they return with an improved offer for Kolo Muani or pivot decisively toward one of the alternative targets.
