RB Leipzig have rejected a formal written bid worth €100 million from Real Madrid for defender Yan Diomande, according to Sky Germany. The proposal comprised a €90 million fixed fee supplemented by €10 million in add-ons.
The refusal mirrors Leipzig’s response to Liverpool FC, who saw an identical €100 million offer dismissed in recent weeks. Despite the player’s desire to leave, the club maintain that only an exceptional fee will secure his signature.
Diomande’s PSG preference
While Real Madrid and Liverpool have both failed with substantial offers, Diomande has already set his sights on Paris Saint-Germain. The defender has agreed a contract with PSG until 2031, though the French club have yet to submit an official bid.
Contact has been established between PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Leipzig chief Oliver Mintzlaff, but negotiations remain at a preliminary stage. This gap between the player’s intentions and formal club negotiations leaves the transfer unresolved.
Valuation stand-off
Leipzig consider €100 million insufficient for Diomande, despite the figure representing a significant outlay. The club’s strict valuation creates a dilemma for interested parties: improve their offers or risk losing the player to a rival.
Real Madrid could return with a revised proposal, which would complicate PSG’s position considerably. Should Madrid meet Leipzig’s valuation demands, they could secure the player regardless of his pre-existing agreement with the Parisians.
PSG now face pressure to formalise their interest with a bid that satisfies Leipzig’s requirements, or potentially watch Diomande head to Spain despite his clear preference for France.
