RC Strasbourg Alsace have identified FC Lausanne-Sport centre-back Karim Sow as a priority target for the summer transfer window, entering a crowded race for the 23-year-old Swiss international, according to Foot Mercato.
The Ligue 1 side have placed the defender high on their recruitment shortlist. Sow is currently valued at between €4 million and €5 million, a fee that has attracted attention from multiple European leagues.
Competition from England and Germany
Strasbourg face significant competition for Sow’s signature. Borussia Mönchengladbach are also actively targeting the defender, while Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town and Hull City have registered firm interest following their promotion to English football’s top tier.
The involvement of clubs from three major European leagues places Lausanne in a delicate position as they weigh whether to retain a key player or capitalise on his rising market value.
From loan spell to defensive linchpin
Sow began his development in the youth system at Swiss club Young Boys before signing his first professional contract with Lausanne in 2021. After gaining experience during a loan spell at Stade Nyonnais in the 2023-24 season, he returned to establish himself as a permanent fixture in Lausanne’s back line.
The 2025-26 season marked a breakthrough campaign for the Swiss defender, who made 40 appearances across all competitions. He started every one of the 31 league matches in which he featured, underlining his importance to the team’s defensive structure.
With Strasbourg, Gladbach and the two English clubs all monitoring the situation, Sow’s representatives and Lausanne officials are expected to field formal enquiries in the coming weeks as the summer transfer window approaches. No agreement has been reached with any party.
