AC Milan and Inter played out a 1-1 draw in a pre-season friendly in Perth on Thursday, with the occasion marked by tributes to the late club legend Franco Baresi.
Federico Dimarco gave Inter the lead with a precise finish, but Christopher Nkunku converted a penalty to restore parity for Milan. The match featured a minute’s silence dedicated to former captain Baresi, whose No. 6 shirt was displayed pitchside, while players paused again at the sixth minute to honour his memory. Luka Modrić, introduced as a substitute, later described Baresi as “the essence of the club.”
Juventus continue recruitment drive
Juventus maintained their busy summer schedule with a 1-0 victory over Chelsea in a friendly encounter, Edon Zhegrova scoring the only goal of the game. The result followed confirmation that chief executive Giovanni Carnevali is pushing to secure multiple signings before the transfer window closes.
Goalkeeper Zion Suzuki is expected to arrive from Parma, while the Turin side retain an interest in defender Jhon Lucumí. The club have also targeted Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee as they look to bolster their attacking options.
Fiorentina, Roma and Napoli complete business
Fiorentina have announced the loan signing of Argentine midfielder Franco Mastantuono from Real Madrid, with the Spanish club agreeing to cover half of his wages during the temporary arrangement.
Roma have finalised the acquisition of right-back Nahuel Molina from Atlético Madrid in a deal valued at €13 million plus additional terms. The Giallorossi are also pursuing RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa.
Elsewhere, Napoli secured a 2-1 friendly win against Osasuna through goals from Matteo Politano and Lorenzo Lucca. Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku, who featured in Napoli’s pre-season preparations, has been linked with a potential transfer to Atlanta United in Major League Soccer.
Inter are reportedly keen to extend Federico Dimarco’s contract following his recent performances, while Milan manager Rúben Amorim is relaunching Rafael Leão amid continued interest from Galatasaray.
