Agent Jorge Mendes is holding crucial transfer discussions at AC Milan headquarters as the club pursues Sporting CP defender Gonçalo Inácio and manages the potential departure of Rafael Leão. The Portuguese super agent was spotted arriving at Casa Milan on Wednesday, with immediate business including the completion of Diego Moreira’s transfer from RC Strasbourg.

According to Sky Sport journalist Luca Bendoni, Mendes touched down specifically for these negotiations. Bendoni reported on social media: “Breaking. Agent Jorge Mendes has landed in Milan to hold crucial transfermarket meeting. + His client Diego Moreira is currently signing his AC Milan contract.”

Moreira deal finalised

The arrival of 21-year-old winger Moreira represents confirmed business for the Rossoneri. The Portuguese youth international underwent medical examinations on Tuesday and is putting pen to paper on his contract with the Serie A club. Mendes represents the wide player, who joins from French side Strasbourg to provide additional creativity in the final third.

Defensive reinforcements targeted

Beyond the completed paperwork, Mendes is reportedly working to secure Inacio’s signature from Sporting CP. The 24-year-old central defender, who has earned 22 caps for Portugal and turns 25 next week, commands a significant investment. Sources indicate the transfer will require over €40 million, particularly given the €60 million release clause written into his contract that runs until June 2030. Inacio has progressed through the Sporting youth system and established himself as a regular for both club and country.

The urgency in pursuing defensive reinforcements follows reports that England international Fikayo Tomori has been frozen out by coach Ruben Amorim. Should negotiations for Inacio prove too costly, Milan have identified Lecce’s Tiago Gabriel as a more economical alternative to strengthen their backline.

Leão future uncertain

Mendes is also discussing the future of star forward Rafael Leão, who is reportedly eager to secure a move away from San Siro before the window closes. Turkish giants Galatasaray remain the most likely destination for the Portugal international, though there have been suggestions that fellow Serie A side Roma have also been approached regarding a potential deal.

With several weeks remaining in the transfer window, Milan supporters await concrete developments on both the defensive reinforcement and the resolution of their attacking talisman’s situation.
