Christophe Galtier, currently managing SC Neom in Saudi Arabia, has expressed his openness to a future return to France’s top flight, Ligue 1. The former Paris Saint-Germain and Lille OSC boss indicated he remains deeply connected to the league where he achieved significant success.
Galtier’s Ligue 1 Legacy
Galtier boasts an impressive track record in Ligue 1, having guided two different clubs to the league title. He famously led Lille OSC to an unexpected Ligue 1 triumph in 2021, before taking the helm at Paris Saint-Germain, where he also secured the championship in his single season in charge. Beyond these title-winning stints, Galtier also managed OGC Nice and AS Saint-Étienne, establishing himself as a prominent figure in French football.
Speaking to Le Parisien, Galtier affirmed his enduring connection to the league. "I remain connected to Ligue 1 because it is the league that I know the best, the one that allowed me to flourish and grow," he stated.
Future Prospects
Following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain, Galtier moved to manage Al-Duhail SC in Qatar before taking on his current role at SC Neom. His tenure in Saudi Arabia has seen a strong start, with his team winning five of their seven matches in the Saudi Pro League this season.
Despite his current engagement abroad, Galtier made it clear that a return to France is not out of the question. "I will not close any door to France, nor to ‘my’ league. That is a certainty," he explained. However, he also acknowledged the possibility of remaining overseas, adding, "it is also possible that I remain abroad, in Saudi Arabia, in Asia, in South America, in Europe, or elsewhere. I don’t know what will happen."
Looking ahead, Galtier confirmed his commitment to management for the foreseeable future. "One thing is sure, I will still be a manager for at least the next three years," he concluded, suggesting his coaching career is far from over, with various possibilities on the horizon.
