Coaches Suspended After Post-Match Incident

Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti and Cagliari counterpart Fabio Pisacane have each been handed a one-game ban following a heated confrontation after their Serie A match on Sunday. The incident occurred moments after the final whistle of the 1-1 draw between Cagliari and Juventus.

Tensions flared as the two coaches approached each other for the customary post-match greetings. Reports indicate that Spalletti accused Pisacane of time-wasting during the match. The Serie A Sports Judge later determined that Spalletti had adopted a provocative attitude towards the opposing coach, which created tension between the benches. Pisacane was found to have reacted to this behaviour, further fuelling the tension.

As a direct consequence of their dismissals, both coaches will miss their respective clubs’ upcoming Serie A fixtures. Spalletti will be absent from the dugout for Juventus’ home game against Lazio, while Pisacane will miss Cagliari’s away trip to Monza.

Further Serie A Disciplinary Actions

In addition to the coaches, several players also received one-game suspensions following the latest round of Serie A fixtures. Roma striker Donyell Malen was handed a one-game ban after receiving a straight red card during his team’s match against Como. Malen’s dismissal was for a reckless foul on Como’s left-back Kaiki, though it was not deemed violent conduct.

Malen’s suspension means he will miss Roma’s next Serie A encounter against Genoa. Meanwhile, Atalanta midfielder Eljif Elmas and Monza defender Lorenzo Lucchesi also received one-game bans after being shown straight red cards in their recent matches.
