Bayern Munich midfielder Aleksandar Pavlović has opened up about his decision to reject interest from Manchester City last summer, confirming his commitment to the Bavarian giants.
The young talent, who has spent his entire life and career with FC Bayern, stated that the choice to remain at his boyhood club was straightforward despite the allure of a top Premier League side.
Staying Home in Munich
Speaking to Sports BILD, Pavlović acknowledged the honour of being approached by a club of Manchester City’s stature. However, his deep connection to Munich proved to be the deciding factor.
“First of all, it’s an honour when a top club like [Manchester] City comes calling,” Pavlović said. “I grew up here in Munich, I’ve spent my whole life here so far, and I’ve always played football for FC Bayern. My family and friends live here, and for me, there’s nothing better than that. That’s why the decision wasn’t difficult.”
Pavlović has progressed through Bayern’s youth ranks, making his senior debut and establishing himself as a promising prospect in the first team.
Rodri Comparison and Future Ambition
The 22-year-old midfielder has drawn comparisons to world-class defensive midfielder Rodri, a player known for his pivotal role at Manchester City and previously Barcelona. Pavlović views this comparison as a source of motivation.
“Everyone knows what a world-class defensive midfielder Rodri is. He didn’t win the Ballon d’Or for nothing,” Pavlović commented. “Naturally, it’s an honour to be compared to a player like him. I take that as motivation to achieve my goal.”
Pavlović expressed his clear ambition to continue developing his game and cement his place among the global elite in football.
