Real Madrid has secured a substantial €80m buy-back option for midfielder Nico Paz, who made a permanent move to Italian club Como in the summer of 2024. This clause provides the Spanish giants with the unilateral right to re-sign the Argentine talent for the 2027-2028 season.
Paz is currently under contract with Como until June 2028. An agreement for him to remain at the Italian club for the 2026-2027 season was reportedly made at the player’s own request, with Real Madrid retaining the future buy-back option.
His impressive performances since joining the Serie A side have reportedly caught attention. He recently scored two goals and provided an assist in Como’s 4-1 victory over Manchester United in the Champions League, contributing to his tally of four goals and five assists in 10 appearances across all competitions.
Jacobo Ramon Also Subject to Buy-Back
In addition to Nico Paz, Real Madrid also maintains a buy-back option for another academy product currently playing at Como, defender Jacobo Ramon. Ramon joined the Italian club in 2025 for a fee of €2.5m.
While the specific financial terms or activation season for Ramon’s potential return to the Santiago Bernabéu have not been detailed, the existence of this clause underscores Real Madrid’s strategic approach to managing its promising young players.
These buy-back agreements allow Real Madrid to monitor the development of former academy talents closely, providing a pathway for their potential return to the club should they continue to excel in their careers. This strategy ensures that the club retains a degree of control over players who may develop into future stars, even after they have moved on to gain experience elsewhere.
