  • Real Madrid planned to bring him back to the first team next season
  • His recent strike against Rennes helped Lyon move closer to Champions League qualification

Endrick Felipe has expressed his wish to stay at Olympique Lyon rather than return to Real Madrid. The 19-year-old Brazilian moved to France during the winter transfer window. He has adapted well to life in Ligue 1.

The young forward spoke to reporters after Lyon beat Rennes 4-2 on Sunday. He scored in that match. The victory keeps Lyon on track for a place in next season’s Champions League.

“I feel very good here. I feel very happy,” Endrick said. “I enjoy playing with my teammates. I leave my future in God’s hands. If I must return to Real Madrid, I will go. But I would like to stay here. Everyone at the club makes me feel comfortable.”

Real Madrid sent Endrick on loan in January because he was not getting enough playing time. He joined from Palmeiras in 2024 but found first-team chances limited at the Santiago Bernabéu. His progress had slowed down.

Since arriving in France, the striker has eight goals and seven assists in all competitions. His performances have impressed the Lyon supporters and management.

Real Madrid’s board had expected to bring Endrick back for the 2026-27 campaign. They wanted him to fight for a place in the senior squad. However, his comments suggest he prefers to continue his development in France.

The Spanish giants will now face a decision. They must choose between recalling their talented youngster or allowing him another season abroad.
