- Club rules mean formal extension talks cannot start until one year before expiry
- Uli Hoeneß confirms the board has already discussed Eberl’s future internally
Max Eberl has revealed he would like to continue working at Bayern Munich after his current deal ends in 2027. The club’s sporting director took up the post last year. However, he now hopes to stay for even longer.
“At this moment, we have started many positive changes,” the 50-year-old told DAZN. “I feel extremely happy at this club,” he added.
The German explained that fans and officials must first rate his performance. If they believe he is doing well, he will happily remain at the Bavarian giants.
Eberl joined Bayern from RB Leipzig in 2024. He admitted that his early days at the club were difficult. Strong characters within the team and board created some tension initially.
However, he believes these debates help major clubs improve. Different opinions can drive success when people work together.
Meanwhile, Uli Hoeneß has explained why no new deal is signed yet. The club legend stated that board contracts can only be renewed one year before they finish. This means formal negotiations cannot start until twelve months before the 2027 expiry.
Hoeneß confirmed that the club’s leaders have already held internal talks about Eberl’s future. These discussions took place at a board meeting two weeks ago. However, he refused to share further details before the formal process begins.
