Kenyan midfielder Ivy Faith Omondi has lifted her first trophy on foreign soil. The Harambee Starlets international helped Zesco Ndola Girls defend their league title in Zambia on Wednesday.
The Power Queens produced a commanding display at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. They thrashed Luyando Foundation FC 7-0 in a rescheduled Week 31 fixture. Avell Chitundu, Mercy Chipasula, Fridah Kabwe and Enelesi Phiri all found the net during the one-sided contest.
The landslide win pushed Zesco to 85 points. This total is now impossible for rivals to match. The club will therefore represent Zambia in the upcoming COSAFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
Omondi signed a two-year contract with the Ndola club in February 2026. She moved from Kenyan champions Kenya Police Bullets. The transfer followed her successful spell with Sethu FC in India.
Since her arrival, the creative midfielder has become vital for head coach William Zulu. Her vision and passing ability have helped unlock stubborn defences throughout the campaign. Green Buffaloes provided strong competition during the title race.
This triumph adds to the 2023/24 FKF Women’s Premier League title Omondi won with Police Bullets. She has now secured domestic championships in two different countries within one year.
Omondi forms part of a growing trend of Kenyan footballers moving to Zambia. The men’s division has also seen similar transfers. Last July, Power Dynamos signed strikers Moses Shumah from Kakamega Homeboyz and Emmanuel Osoro from FC Talanta.
The Zambian leagues are becoming popular with Harambee Stars and Starlets players. Many view the destination as offering strong tactical development and rising professional standards.
Zesco Ndola Girls reached the final of the 2025 COSAFA Champions League. This platform gives Omondi the chance to showcase her skills at continental level. Her success highlights the increasing export quality of Kenyan women’s football.
