Paris Saint-Germain’s Vitinha has captured the GFFN Player of the Season award following a remarkable campaign at the heart of the French giants’ midfield. The Portuguese international has established himself as the indispensable anchor in Luis Enrique’s squad, building upon his previous Ballon d’Or podium finish with even greater consistency.

The 26-year-old operates as the engine room’s heartbeat, combining fierce tackling with graceful movement between defensive lines. His distribution remains vital to the Parisians’ swift transitions from defence to attack, whilst his stamina allows him to dominate the centre of the pitch for the full ninety minutes.

Few players can match Vitinha’s availability this term. The midfielder featured in every single Champions League minute prior to April, when a heel problem forced him to sit out three matches. His domestic record proves equally impressive, with the former Porto man accumulating more than double the playing time of teammates Ousmane Dembélé and Marquinhos.

Leadership responsibilities have also fallen naturally to the Portugal international. He assumed the vice-captaincy last summer and regularly wears the armband whenever the Brazilian centre-back is unavailable. Many observers expect Vitinha to inherit the permanent captaincy once Marquinhos eventually leaves the Parc des Princes.

Although he has scored just seven times this season, six of those strikes arrived on Europe’s biggest stage. His November hat-trick against Tottenham Hotspur demonstrated his ability to influence crucial continental fixtures. With another clash against North London opposition looming, the midfielder will aim to add to that tally.

The award cements Vitinha’s status as one of Europe’s most reliable midfield operators, recognised for both his durability and technical excellence throughout a demanding season.
