French defender Benjamin Pavard has officially ended his stay at Olympique de Marseille. The 30-year-old confirmed his departure on Monday through a message posted on his Instagram account.

“Today marks the end of a chapter with Olympique de Marseille,” Pavard wrote. He described wearing the club’s colours as an important experience in both his career and personal life. The former Bayern Munich star stated he always gave maximum effort on the pitch. He thanked the club, staff, team-mates, and supporters for their backing during the campaign.

Pavard joined Marseille on a temporary basis from Inter Milan last summer. The agreement included an option for the French club to make the transfer permanent. However, the Ligue 1 side decided against triggering this clause. The player struggled during his time in the south of France despite playing regularly. He started 31 of his 37 matches in all competitions. Critics often pointed out mistakes in his defensive performances.

The centre-back still has a contract with the Italian giants until 2028. Reports suggest he wants to leave San Siro and find a new destination next season. Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims the player is actively searching for a fresh challenge elsewhere.

At 30 years old, Pavard brings valuable experience to any potential suitor. He won the World Cup with France in 2018. Several clubs may now compete for his signature as he looks to rebuild his career away from both Marseille and Inter.
