Lorient FC are searching for a new manager to lead the team next season. The French side must find a replacement for Olivier Pantaloni, whose contract expired recently.
Will Still remains the top choice for the position. The Anglo-Belgian coach previously worked at Southampton and RC Lens. However, he faces strong competition from AJ Auxerre. The Ligue 1 club also hope to appoint Still as their new head coach.
Club president Loic Fery spoke to the media on Friday. He confirmed that officials are reviewing several candidates. He also made it clear that there is no urgency to complete the hire. Pantaloni chose to leave because he felt a lack of trust from the board. He decided not to renew his deal, despite guiding the team to a safe midtable finish.
Reports from Foot Mercato suggest Lorient have drawn up a list of alternatives. Stéphane Gilli is one of the names under consideration. The coach left Paris FC in February this year. Antoine Kombouaré took over from him at that club. Now, Gilli could secure the Lorient role if the club fail to land their primary target.
