AC Milan are closing in on the signing of Gonçalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain after the Portugal striker underwent secret medical examinations in Florida two weeks ago. The Serie A club have agreed personal terms with the forward and are finalising a transfer believed to be worth between €53 million and €55 million including bonuses.

The medical tests took place in Miami, where Ramos is currently stationed with the Portugal squad for the 2026 World Cup. According to Sky Sport Italia, Milan requested the precautionary checks 15 days ago to avoid any unforeseen complications before committing to the investment. The Rossoneri have since accelerated negotiations, with the player expressing clear enthusiasm about working under new manager Ruben Amorim.

Deal Structure and Current Status

Paris Saint-Germain are set to recoup the majority of the €65 million they paid Benfica in 2024 to secure Ramos permanently, following an initial loan spell the previous year. The proposed package represents a slight reduction on their original outlay but includes performance-related add-ons that could elevate the final figure.

While the framework is in place, the transfer has not been formally completed. Ramos remains focused on international duty, and final signatures may await Portugal’s exit from the tournament. Nevertheless, the secret medical and agreement on personal terms represent decisive steps toward completion.

Limited Opportunities in Paris

Ramos has found regular starting minutes difficult to secure during his time in the French capital. This season, he contributed 12 goals and two assists across 45 appearances, starting only 15 of those matches and never from the opening whistle in the Champions League. Despite these constraints, he has maintained an impressive overall record of 45 goals and ten assists in 131 total games for PSG since 2023.

The 25-year-old fits the physical profile Amorim has specifically requested: a technically capable centre-forward who can hold the line, create depth and finish clinically inside the penalty area. Ramos is understood to view the San Siro move as a chance to become the central attacking figure rather than continuing in a rotation role behind Ousmane Dembélé.

Competition and Next Steps

While Ramos’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has prioritised dialogue with Milan, Fabrizio Romano reports that additional clubs have entered the race for the Portuguese international. PSG are unlikely to sanction a cut-price departure having invested substantially in the player, and may yet field rival bids.

The potential exit of Ramos forms part of a broader attacking reshuffle in Paris, with Lee Kang-in and Randal Kolo Muani also expected to depart this summer. For Milan, securing the striker would mark a major coup for Amorim’s new project, providing the focal point the Portuguese coach believes his squad currently lacks.
