Milan have reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Portugal striker Gonçalo Ramos for a reported club record fee of €55 million including add-ons. The 25-year-old has already undergone his medical examination while on international duty at the World Cup in Florida, indicating the transfer could be finalised imminently.
The deal comes at the specific request of new Milan manager Ruben Amorim, who identified the forward as a priority target upon taking charge of the Serie A side. Agent Jorge Mendes facilitated negotiations between the clubs, with Milan owner Gerry Cardinale reportedly using his existing rapport with PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi to secure an advantage over competing suitors.
Competition and fee structure
Atletico Madrid had also expressed strong interest in acquiring Ramos, but Milan’s decisive action appears to have settled the player’s destination. According to Calciomercato transfer expert Daniele Longo, the final fee amounts to €55 million including various performance bonuses. This represents a significant investment for the Rossoneri, exceeding their previous transfer record. It also sees PSG accept a financial loss on the €65 million they paid Benfica to sign the striker just last summer.
Earlier reports in Portuguese outlet A Bola and French publication L’Equipe had suggested Milan’s opening offer stood at approximately €40 million, falling short of PSG’s initial asking price of €50 million plus add-ons. However, negotiations accelerated rapidly following the involvement of key intermediaries.
On-pitch impact and motivations
Ramos contributed 12 goals and two assists across 45 appearances for the Champions League winners this season, rotating in a crowded attacking department. Despite featuring regularly in the squad, the striker is understood to be seeking more guaranteed starting opportunities, which Amorim’s project in Milan promises to provide.
The timing of the medical, conducted while Ramos remains with Portugal’s squad at the World Cup, highlights the urgency both clubs attached to concluding the transaction. The forward, who turned 25 last week, now appears set to swap Paris for Milan after just one season in France, pending official confirmation from both clubs.
