AC Milan are reshaping their squad under new coach Ruben Amorim, with the club confirming that Ardon Jashari and Francesco Camarda will stay while placing Youssouf Fofana and Warren Bondo on the transfer list. The decisions form part of a comprehensive revamp following the dismissal of former manager Max Allegri and the failure to qualify for the Champions League.
Jashari kept despite Atalanta interest
Despite interest from Atalanta and their new manager Maurizio Sarri, Switzerland international Jashari has been assured he remains part of the project. Sky Sport Italia report that the midfielder’s representatives were informed of this decision during recent meetings with directors. The 22-year-old had been targeted by the Bergamo club as they rebuild under the former Lazio coach, but Milan have blocked any potential departure.
The same clarity has been provided to teenage striker Camarda, whom Amorim is reportedly eager to secure to a new long-term contract. The club are also working to extend Christian Comotto’s deal, with both players’ current agreements running until June 2028.
Fofana available after €26m arrival
In contrast, Fofana has been informed he should find a new club this summer despite only joining from AS Monaco in 2024 for a fee of €26 million. The Frenchman signed a contract running until June 2028 but reportedly experienced tension within the squad during his first campaign, in which he made 33 Serie A appearances, scoring twice and providing three assists.
Warren Bondo also faces an exit after spending last season on loan at Cremonese, where he struggled to make a significant impact. The midfielder has been urged to secure a permanent transfer away from San Siro as Amorim trims the squad to fit his tactical vision.
What happens next
The clear-out signals a decisive shift in strategy following the club’s disappointing league campaign. With Champions League revenue absent, Milan must balance their books while rebuilding a squad capable of challenging for European qualification. The retention of Jashari suggests Amorim values the Swiss midfielder’s versatility, while the decision to cut losses on Fofana after just one season indicates a ruthless approach to squad management.
Atalanta may now turn to alternative targets after failing to secure Jashari, while Fofana’s availability could attract interest from clubs in Ligue 1 or the Premier League given his previous experience in France and his age.
