Rosenior Takes Helm at Ambitious Paris FC
Liam Rosenior has been appointed as the new manager of Paris FC, marking his return to French football seven months after leaving RC Strasbourg Alsace. The English coach has signed a contract running until 2028 and will officially assume his duties on Thursday, replacing Antoine Kombouaré in the dugout.
Rosenior has been without a club since April, when his brief spell at Chelsea came to an end. He was appointed by the west London side in January following Enzo Maresca’s sudden exit, but managed only 23 matches before his eight-year deal was cut short.
An Ambitious Project
Paris FC represent one of French football’s most ambitious ventures, backed by the Arnault family and Red Bull, who contribute both significant financial resources and sporting expertise. The club turned to Kombouaré in February when they found themselves threatened by relegation, and the veteran coach successfully guided them to safety.
Despite securing their top-flight status, the club have moved swiftly to install Rosenior as they look to establish themselves as a more consistent force in Ligue 1. The length of the contract offered indicates that the ownership group view this as a long-term rebuild rather than a short-term solution.
Proven Record in France
Rosenior arrives with credit established during his previous spell in French football. During his time at RC Strasbourg Alsace, he secured European qualification for the club during his only full season in charge, leading them into the UEFA Europa Conference League.
That achievement had previously attracted Chelsea’s attention, though his tenure in the Premier League proved brief. His return to France sees him join a club with similar upward trajectory to Strasbourg, albeit with greater financial backing and infrastructure.
Immediate Tasks Ahead
Rosenior takes charge with immediate effect from Thursday. Having replaced Kombouaré, who arrived in February to steer the club away from the relegation zone, the Englishman now faces the task of building upon that foundation of stability.
With his contract running until 2028, the club have signalled their intent to provide the time necessary for structural improvements. Rosenior’s previous success in securing European qualification suggests he has the tactical acumen to elevate a developing squad, though he will need to adapt quickly to the specific demands of the Paris FC project.
