Como have accepted an offer from Udinese for defender Mergim Vojvoda, allowing the Kosovo international to enter discussions over personal terms with the Friulani.
The 31-year-old right-back has attracted significant interest following his performances in Serie A. He joined Como from Torino in February 2025 for a fee of €2 million and quickly established himself as a regular starter. During the most recent campaign, he made 34 appearances across league and cup competitions, scoring two goals and registering three assists.
Competition from rival clubs
Several Italian clubs had reportedly shown interest in securing Vojvoda’s services, with Cagliari, Venezia and Monza mentioned as potential suitors. However, Sportitalia claims Udinese have moved decisively to secure an agreement with Como, giving them the upper hand in the transfer.
The defender’s current contract at the Stadio Sinigaglia runs until June 2028, which necessitated a negotiated transfer rather than a free move. The financial details of Udinese’s accepted bid have not been disclosed.
Versatility and experience
Vojvoda provides tactical flexibility across the defensive unit. Although naturally a right-back, he can operate effectively as a centre-back or in a more advanced wide role. This utility, combined with his prior experience in Belgium with Standard Liège, makes him an attractive option for Udinese as they seek to bolster their defensive resources ahead of the new season.
What happens next
The transfer now hinges on Vojvoda finalising his contract details with Udinese. Once personal terms are agreed, the player would complete a medical examination to seal the switch. The deal represents significant business for Como, who stand to recoup their initial €2 million investment little more than a year after signing the player from Torino.
