Djed Spence has indicated his willingness to join Inter Milan, though Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly demanding €35 million for the versatile full-back.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 25-year-old has given the green light to a potential switch to Serie A. The Italian club identified the England international as their next defensive target after failing to secure two other prospects earlier in the transfer window.

Inter pivot after failed targets

The Nerazzurri had pursued both Marco Palestra and Anan Khalaili, but neither move reached completion. Palestra opted to join Chelsea instead, while Khalaili’s proposed transfer fell through following medical issues. The Israeli defender was set to move for €25 million plus add-ons before the deal collapsed.

Spence, who gained experience in Italy during the latter half of last season on loan at Genoa, now represents Inter’s primary alternative. The defender can operate on either flank, offering tactical flexibility. Personal terms are not expected to present an obstacle given the player’s enthusiasm for the switch to Milan.

Spurs hold strong negotiating position

Although Tottenham are open to offers for Spence, they hold a firm stance on valuation. The former Middlesbrough man is contracted until June 2029, with the North London club retaining an option to extend the agreement for an additional year. This long-term security strengthens Spurs’ hand in negotiations.

Inter had earlier enquired about Spence’s teammate Pedro Porro, only to find Tottenham unwilling to negotiate for the Spanish international. Porro, who signed a contract extension until 2031 in June, remains the first-choice right-back under manager Roberto De Zerbi.

The €35 million valuation stands significantly higher than the €25 million Inter had agreed for Khalaili, presenting a financial challenge for the Serie A side. With limited prospects for regular starts at Spurs, Spence is understood to be keen on a fresh start in Italy, but Inter must now decide whether to meet Tottenham’s demands or seek alternatives elsewhere before the transfer window closes.
