Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies has started his pre-season preparations following his return from the 2026 World Cup with Canada. The 25-year-old completed his first individual training session on Thursday morning at the club’s Säbener Straße ground, marking his first appearance at the training complex since concluding his international commitments.

Recovery work at Säbener Straße

The Canadian international ran several laps on the training pitch as he builds towards full match fitness. He trained alongside winger Serge Gnabry, defender Lennart Karl, and youth player Cassiano Kiala, with all three continuing their own rehabilitation programmes.

Individual sessions typically form the initial phase of a player’s return to action, allowing them to regain physical condition before joining high-intensity team drills. Thursday’s work represents Davies’ first structured training since arriving back in Germany.

Fitness focus and squad battles

Davies faces a pivotal season ahead after suffering multiple injury setbacks during the previous campaign. The left-back struggled to maintain consistency last term, disrupting his availability for the German champions at crucial moments.

His challenge of securing a starting berth has grown more complex following the arrival of Nathaniel Brown, who adds fresh competition to Bayern’s full-back options. Davies must now demonstrate both his fitness and form to earn regular minutes.

The Canada international is eager to put these injury troubles behind him and establish himself as a reliable presence in the squad. His return to individual training offers encouragement that he can soon resume his role in the first-team setup as the club prepares for the new Bundesliga season.
