SCO Angers have bolstered their attacking options by securing Moroccan forward Amine El Ouazzani on a season-long loan from SC Braga. The 25-year-old becomes the French club’s fifth arrival of the summer transfer window as they prepare for life under new management.
The deal, confirmed on Monday, sees El Ouazzani return to French football following a stint in Portugal. He managed two goals in 24 appearances across all competitions for Braga last season, and will now look to establish himself in Angers’ forward line.
Active Summer at Angers
The Moroccan’s arrival continues a busy recruitment drive at Le Sco, who parted ways with manager Alexandre Dujeux earlier this summer. El Ouazzani follows four other new faces through the door at the Stade Raymond Kopa as the club reshapes its squad.
Goalkeeper Anthony Lopes joined on a free transfer after leaving FC Nantes, while defender Anthony Bermont signed from RC Lens. Midfielder Branco Van den Boomen also arrived on a free following the termination of his contract at Ajax Amsterdam, and forward Usman Simbakoli completed a permanent transfer to complete the quartet of earlier signings.
Return to Familiar Territory
Although El Ouazzani arrives from the Portuguese top flight, he boasts significant experience in the French leagues. The forward began his professional career with Bourg-en-Bresse, where he scored 11 goals in 55 appearances. He subsequently spent two campaigns with EA Guingamp in Ligue 2 before making the switch to Braga.
His return to France represents an opportunity to reignite the form that initially took him abroad. With Angers rebuilding their squad following managerial upheaval, El Ouazzani will hope to make an immediate impact during the forthcoming campaign.
The loan arrangement allows Angers to strengthen their forward options without committing to a permanent deal initially, while giving the player a platform to rediscover his scoring touch in a familiar environment.
