AS Monaco have made initial enquiries to Como 1907 regarding the availability of midfielder Maxence Caqueret, according to reports. The Ligue 1 club are actively seeking to strengthen their options in the centre of the pitch following the recent departure of Aladji Bamba to Newcastle United.

The Principality side are also preparing for the possibility that Lamine Camara could leave before the transfer window closes, with the Senegalese midfielder attracting significant interest from other clubs. Caqueret has emerged as a potential target to bolster their squad depth should Camara depart.

Caqueret’s impact in Italy

The 26-year-old Frenchman transferred to the Serie A club from Olympique Lyonnais during the January 2025 window. He quickly established himself as a key figure under manager Cesc Fàbregas, featuring in 36 matches across all competitions during the second half of last season. He contributed two goals and six assists during that period.

Caqueret is tied to the Italian club on a long-term contract that runs until 2029. This gives Como a strong negotiating position should they wish to retain his services beyond the current transfer window.

Return to French football

A transfer to Monaco would represent a return to Ligue 1 for the Lyon academy graduate, who previously made nearly 150 top-flight appearances in France before his move abroad.

While preliminary discussions between the clubs have begun regarding the French midfielder, no agreement is imminent. Como secured Caqueret on a lengthy deal earlier this year and are under no immediate pressure to sanction a sale.
