Atletico Madrid have opened negotiations to sign Club Brugge forward Nicolò Tresoldi in a deal that could cost approximately €30 million, according to reports from Italy.

Proposed deal

The 21-year-old striker, who turns 22 next month, has attracted significant attention across Europe following an impressive debut season in Belgium. Tresoldi joined Club Brugge just one year ago from German side Hannover 96 for €7.5 million, but his impact has been immediate and substantial.

During 58 competitive appearances for the Belgian champions, he contributed 23 goals and nine assists. This productive return has convinced Atletico officials to advance their interest, with formal negotiations now underway between the Madrid club and the player’s entourage. The Spanish side view the forward as a valuable addition who can bolster their attacking resources ahead of the new campaign.

Competition for signature

Atletico face serious competition for the forward’s signature. Italian club Como and German champions Bayer Leverkusen have also been linked with Tresoldi in recent weeks as they seek to strengthen their own squads. Earlier this year, reports suggested interest from AC Milan and Arsenal, though those connections have not developed into the concrete negotiations now taking place with the La Liga club.

The proposed €30 million fee would represent substantial profit for Club Brugge on their €7.5 million investment from just 12 months ago. Despite this significant markup, Atletico appear willing to meet the valuation to secure a player they consider a long-term prospect capable of contributing to both domestic and European competitions.

International future

Born in Cagliari, Italy, Tresoldi relocated to Germany with his family during childhood. He remains eligible to represent either nation at senior international level, having previously featured for Germany’s Under-21 side where he scored 12 goals in 24 caps. He has not yet made a final commitment regarding his senior international future, meaning he could still switch allegiance to Italy.
