Bologna have rejected a bid from Besiktas for centre-back Jhon Lucumi and set a €25 million asking price for the Colombia international. The Serie A club dismissed an offer worth €12m plus midfielder Jean Onana for the defender, who turned 28 last month and featured at the 2026 World Cup.
The proposal from the Turkish side included Onana, who spent last season on loan at Genoa. However, Bologna have explicitly ruled out player exchanges, insisting they will only accept a full cash sum for Lucumi. This stance complicates negotiations with Besiktas, who had hoped to utilise the midfielder as a makeweight.
Contract situation and release clause
Lucumi enters the final year of his contract at the Stadio Dall’Ara, with his current deal expiring at the end of the coming season. Bologna had previously promised to allow him to leave should a suitable offer materialise, yet they now risk losing him without a transfer fee in 12 months if no deal is struck this summer.
A €28m release clause previously inserted in his contract expired a few days ago. Despite the expiration of this mechanism, Bologna have established a firm €25m valuation that could include additional add-ons.
Competition for signature
Inter, Juventus and Sunderland have all been linked with moves for the Colombian alongside Besiktas. The Turkish club may hold an advantage through manager Vincenzo Italiano, who previously coached Lucumi during his spell at Bologna.
However, Bologna’s refusal to consider part-exchange deals forces all suitors to meet their cash-only requirement. With his contract running down and multiple clubs monitoring the situation, Lucumi’s departure appears increasingly likely before the transfer window closes.
