Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly on the verge of signing FC Köln midfielder Jakub Kamiński. The Premier League club are prepared to activate the 24-year-old’s €20 million release clause to secure the transfer, according to German reports.
The Polish international could complete the move to the south coast “within a few days”, bringing a swift end to his brief spell with the Bundesliga side. Kamiński only joined Köln permanently earlier this summer after the club paid €5.5 million to convert his loan from VfL Wolfsburg into a permanent arrangement.
Premier League ambition
The midfielder has made no secret of his desire to test himself in English football. Despite having four years remaining on his contract, Kamiński recently acknowledged that the opportunity to join the Premier League represents a career-defining moment he is eager to seize.
“At the moment I’m a Köln player, I still have four years left on my contract. If there is a chance to move forward, then it’s natural that every footballer wants to take that step. Sometimes such opportunities come only once in a career,” he said earlier this month.
He added: “My dream has always been to play in the Bundesliga, but after 104 matches and four seasons, my next dream is the Premier League. It’s the best league in the world, I would like to test myself there and see how I perform.”
Köln investment at risk
Kamiński has contributed seven goals and five assists in 36 appearances for the “Billy Goats”. His departure would represent a significant blow for Köln, who moved quickly to secure his services on a full-time basis following the 2025/26 campaign.
The proposed transfer aligns with Brighton’s established strategy of targeting emerging talent from European leagues. For the Polish international, the switch would fulfil his stated ambition of competing at the highest level, having already established himself across four Bundesliga seasons.
Neither club has officially confirmed an agreement, though the presence of the release clause suggests the deal could progress rapidly should personal terms be finalised. The midfielder appears set to swap the RheinEnergieSTADION for the Premier League just weeks after making his stay in Germany permanent.
