Juventus are weighing up midfield reinforcements ahead of the 2026-27 season, with Bayern Munich’s Palhinha and Sassuolo’s Nemanja Matic both emerging as potential targets. However, the Turin club have yet to enter formal negotiations for either player as they focus on priority positions elsewhere in the squad.

The Bianconeri missed out on Champions League qualification for the 2025-26 campaign and will instead compete in the Europa League next season. This setback has prompted a squad review, with central midfield identified as an area requiring fresh faces despite not being the immediate priority.

Palhinha monitored

Palhinha, who spent time on loan at Tottenham Hotspur earlier in his career, has attracted interest from Juventus scouts. The Portuguese international joined Bayern Munich in a high-profile transfer but has found regular starting opportunities difficult to secure in the Bundesliga.

According to reports, Juventus have not yet approached Bayern Munich regarding a potential deal. The club are keeping tabs on multiple midfield candidates as they assess the market, with no formal talks currently underway for reinforcements in the centre of the park.

Veteran Matic offered

In a separate development, experienced Serbian midfielder Matic has been offered to the Turin giants. The 37-year-old, who currently plays for Sassuolo, boasts extensive Serie A experience from his previous spell with Roma and his time in the Premier League with Chelsea.

Matic joined Sassuolo last summer when director Giovanni Carnevali brought him to the club. Notably, the veteran shares the same representation as Emiliano Martinez, the Aston Villa goalkeeper who ranks as Juventus’ top target. This agent connection has facilitated the approach regarding Matic’s availability.

Primary targets remain

Despite the interest in midfield options, Juventus have made clear that securing a goalkeeper and a centre-forward takes precedence in the current window. The pursuit of Martinez underscores their determination to strengthen the last line of defence, while the search for attacking reinforcements continues in parallel.

Any move for Palhinha or Matic would likely materialise only after these priority positions are addressed, suggesting that midfield additions may arrive later in the transfer period as the club prepares for European football at the Europa League level.
