Leandro Trossard has ended his stay at Arsenal by completing a £15.3m transfer to a club in Istanbul. The Belgium international departs north London aged 31, having scored 36 goals in 174 appearances for the Gunners. The transfer was announced shortly before England’s World Cup semi-final defeat.

The winger established himself as a valuable squad member during his time under Mikel Arteta, frequently contributing from the bench during the club’s recent title-winning campaign. He developed a reputation for scoring decisive goals at crucial moments.

Real Madrid Secure Dutch Defender

Netherlands right-back Denzel Dumfries has joined Real Madrid on a free transfer after the Spanish club triggered his release clause at Inter Milan. The 30-year-old signed a four-year deal, linking up with fellow summer arrivals Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konaté.

Dumfries arrives following another impressive international tournament. He provided two assists against Sweden during the group phase in North America, having previously secured his move to Inter after a productive Euro 2020 where he found the net twice.

Premier League Clubs Strengthen Squads

English top-flight clubs were active in the market, with a newly promoted side securing Brazilian striker Emersonn from Toulouse for £24m. The 22-year-old, who stands 6ft 4in, scored six goals in 27 Ligue 1 appearances last season. His new manager praised the acquisition, stating: “He is a young striker with real ability and potential who has had plenty of interest this summer.”

Arsenal also bolstered their goalkeeping department by signing Illan Meslier from Leeds United on a free transfer. The French stopper arrives with 107 Premier League appearances to his name and provides competition for David Raya. His signing could pave the way for Kepa Arrizabalaga’s departure after the Spaniard’s lacklustre performance in last season’s Carabao Cup final.

Continental Moves for English and Young Talent

Midfielder Harry Winks has left Leicester City to join Italian side Cagliari. The 30-year-old, who previously spent the 2022-23 campaign on loan at Sampdoria, joins young forward Demi Akarakiri at the Sardinian club. Winks becomes only the second English player to represent Cagliari since forward Gerry Hitchens departed in 1969.

In Germany, Bayern Munich have reinforced their defence by signing Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt. The left-back, who has earned eight caps for Germany, was born in Amberg and developed through Nürnberg’s youth system. He arrives as cover following the departure of Raphaël Guerreiro and with Alphonso Davies still recovering from injury. Vincent Kompany utilised a rotating cast of players in that position last term.

Manchester City completed the £21.6m signing of 19-year-old winger Detourbet from Troyes, immediately loaning him to Monaco for the coming campaign. The teenager contributed three goals and six assists in 33 Ligue 2 appearances last season as Troyes secured promotion. Having played for the French side since the age of eight, he now faces the challenge of establishing himself in France’s top flight.
