Milan and Como have emerged as the latest clubs pursuing Benfica winger Andreas Schjelderup, registering serious interest in the 22-year-old Norway international and adding to an already crowded field of admirers as his performances at the FIFA World Cup continue to attract attention across Europe.

The Portuguese club currently value the versatile attacker at approximately €30 million. That figure represents a significant hike from the winter transfer window, when Club Brugge were prepared to pay roughly half that amount before Benfica manager José Mourinho withdrew Schjelderup from the market. The Portuguese coach reversed his stance on selling the left-footed winger following a decisive brace against Real Madrid, determining that the player was too valuable to lose during the second half of the campaign.

Parma also attempted to secure Schjelderup’s signature in January. Chief executive Federico Cherubini later admitted the Serie A side came close to completing an agreement, though the deal ultimately collapsed. Schjelderup remained in Lisbon and contributed 10 goals and seven assists in 43 appearances across all competitions during the season.

His ability to operate on either flank has made him an attractive target for several elite clubs. Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Atlético Madrid are all actively monitoring his situation, while Barcelona have been mentioned as potential suitors as they consider options to replace Marcus Rashford. The race for his signature now spans multiple major European leagues.

The Norwegian has enhanced his reputation further on the global stage in recent weeks. He featured from the bench during the crucial 3-2 victory over Senegal, assisting his country’s progression to the World Cup last 16 and demonstrating his ability to influence matches at the highest level.

Despite mounting interest from Italy, England and Spain, Schjelderup has maintained a cautious approach regarding transfer talk. “It would be fantastic if those rumours were true, but at the moment I don’t know anything concrete,” he said when asked about the possibility of a move.

With his valuation increasing and multiple Champions League clubs now competing for his services, Benfica appear well-positioned to demand a substantial fee should they sanction the departure of their talented winger once the World Cup concludes.
