Fiorentina have officially completed the signing of defender Radu Dragusin from Tottenham Hotspur. The Romania international joins the Serie A club on an initial loan arrangement that includes an obligation to make the transfer permanent under specific conditions.

Transfer structure

The deal, negotiated by Fiorentina sporting director Fabio Paratici, who previously held a similar post at Tottenham until February, is valued at approximately €19 million. The agreement involves a €1.5 million loan fee, with a compulsory purchase clause of €17.5 million triggered once Dragusin makes his 22nd appearance for the club. Tottenham will also retain a ten per cent share of any future sale fee.

The 24-year-old centre-back arrived in Florence on Tuesday to undergo medical examinations before the transfer was finalised. The structured arrangement allows Fiorentina to assess the player’s fitness and form before committing to the full fee.

Injury-hit spell in England

The move marks a return to Italian football for Dragusin, who developed in the Juventus academy and gained senior experience through loans at Sampdoria, Salernitana and Genoa. Tottenham signed him for €28 million following his spell with the Grifone, but his time in North London was severely curtailed by injury.

The defender suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in January 2025, which kept him sidelined for almost a year. During his time at Tottenham, he managed only 48 competitive appearances in total, featuring just 11 times last season with six starts.

Dragusin will now look to rebuild his career in familiar surroundings, offering Fiorentina defensive reinforcement with a payment structure that only becomes fully binding after sustained playing time.
