AS Saint-Étienne have positioned themselves at the front of the queue to sign Ivorian striker Keasse Bah, though they face determined competition from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Mönchengladbach, according to Foot Mercato.

The 21-year-old forward has become one of the more intriguing attacking prospects on the market after a productive spell with FC Stade-Lausanne-Ouchy. During the 2025-26 campaign, he registered eight goals and four assists in 39 appearances across all competitions, demonstrating his ability to influence matches in the Swiss second division.

Road to recognition

Bah’s journey to European football reflects a growing trend for Ivorian talent seeking opportunities abroad. He began his career with SO Armée in Abidjan before making the switch to Europe in 2025, initially signing with Armenian side Ararat Yerevan. His stay in the Caucasus proved brief, however, as he quickly secured a move to Switzerland with Stade-Lausanne-Ouchy. The transition has clearly suited the young striker, who has since established himself as a reliable attacking presence.

Growing competition

While Saint-Étienne are reportedly very keen to add Bah to their squad, they must fend off interest from several quarters. Borussia Mönchengladbach represent the most high-profile alternative, with the German club actively searching for attacking reinforcements. Elsewhere, Hamburg SV are tracking the situation from the 2. Bundesliga, while Ligue 1 side Angers SCO have also registered their interest in the Ivory Coast international.

Negotiating obstacles

Any deal will require significant negotiation with Stade-Lausanne-Ouchy. Bah remains tied to the Swiss club through 2028, with his contract containing an option for an additional 12 months. This lengthy agreement gives his current employers a strong bargaining position as they field enquiries from across Europe. Despite this, the concentration of interest suggests a departure from Lausanne could materialise before the window closes.
