FC Schalke 04 have reached an agreement with SSC Napoli to sign Danish winger Jesper Lindstrøm, Sky Germany reports. The Bundesliga club are now working to finalise the remaining details of a proposed loan move for the 24-year-old attacker.

The deal under discussion includes the possibility of an option or obligation to buy, though Lindstrøm remains contracted to the Serie A side until the summer of 2028. This long-term commitment means any permanent transfer would require significant investment from the Gelsenkirchen outfit should they wish to retain him beyond the initial loan period.

Return to Familiar Territory

The proposed transfer would bring Lindstrøm back to Germany following a disappointing spell at VfL Wolfsburg last season. The Denmark international was unable to help the Lower Saxony club avoid relegation, struggling to make a consistent impact during his temporary stay.

Contrastingly, Lindstrøm previously enjoyed considerable success in the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt. Between 2021 and 2023, he made 80 appearances for the Hessen club, directly contributing to 28 goals through 14 strikes and 14 assists. His performances during this period established him as one of the division’s most exciting young attacking talents and helped the club compete at the top end of the table.

Negotiation Status

While the broad framework has been settled between the clubs, specific conditions regarding a permanent transfer clause remain under active negotiation. Schalke hope that the winger can rediscover his Frankfurt form to bolster their offensive capabilities for the campaign ahead.

Lindstrøm offers tactical flexibility, capable of operating on either flank or through the centre as an attacking midfielder. His versatility would provide manager Karel Geraerts with additional creative options in the final third.

The deal is expected to be announced once representatives resolve the outstanding contractual specifics, concluding negotiations that had encountered obstacles in recent weeks.
