FC Barcelona have identified Denzel Dumfries as the ideal replacement for Jules Koundé. The Catalan giants are ready to spend €25 million to bring the Dutch defender from Inter Milan this summer.

The club recently won the La Liga title, but manager Hansi Flick admitted the season was tough. Many key players suffered injuries, and the team found it hard to reach the same level as last year.

The full-back roles gave the coach the biggest headache. Alejandro Balde performed poorly on the left, so João Cancelo took his spot after arriving on loan from Al-Hilal. On the right, Koundé also struggled. Flick preferred Eric Garcia for the crucial final match that decided the championship.

Barcelona plan to sell both Koundé and Balde to raise money for new signings. However, the Frenchman wants to remain at the club. He still has four years left on his contract.

According to Sport Mediaset, Barcelona are watching Dumfries closely. The 30-year-old might leave Inter for just €25 million. Premier League clubs Chelsea and Liverpool are also interested in signing him.

The Dutch star has been on Barça’s radar before. He was crucial in Inter’s Serie A victory this season, finding the net five times in 28 games. He missed part of the year due to ankle surgery, but he came back strongly to help the team lift the trophy.
