Portuguese striker Gonçalo Ramos has spoken candidly about his departure from Paris Saint-Germain, revealing his firm intention to leave the French club, a wish that culminated in his transfer to AC Milan last summer.

Ramos spent three years at Paris Saint-Germain, but despite his contributions, he reportedly never fully established himself as a consistent starter. This situation led to his desire for a move, which he stated began as early as the 2026 winter transfer window.

A Determined Departure

During that January window, Ramos expressed his wish to leave, but PSG initially refused to sanction his departure. However, the club’s sporting director, Luis Campos, reportedly gave Ramos his word that he would be allowed to leave in the subsequent summer transfer period.

Reflecting on that time, Ramos indicated his strong resolve to move on. He stated in an interview with Canal 11 that he was at a stage where he “only wanted one thing: to leave.”

The Milan Opportunity

As the summer transfer window approached, interest from AC Milan became apparent. Ramos’s agent, Jorge Mendes, played a crucial role in facilitating the move. Mendes informed Ramos that the deal with the Italian club was complete.

Adding to the developments, Ruben Amorim also contacted Ramos regarding the potential transfer, further solidifying the opportunity to join AC Milan. The striker ultimately completed his move to the Serie A giants last summer, turning a new page in his career after his spell in Paris.
