Aston Villa have approached AC Milan to explore the possibility of signing Christopher Nkunku, according to Onze Mondial. The 28-year-old French forward faces an uncertain future at the San Siro just one year after arriving from Chelsea.

The Premier League club have made enquiries regarding the availability of the former RB Leipzig star, who has reportedly been placed on the transfer list. Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are also monitoring developments, whilst interest from Turkish and Saudi Arabian sides has emerged.

Lingering struggles in Italy

Nkunku joined Milan for €37 million last summer but failed to establish himself as a first-choice starter. He made 35 appearances across all competitions during his debut campaign, though only 17 were from the beginning. His return of eight goals and three assists meant he contributed to eleven goals in total.

The Rossoneri are now open to loaning the player out as they look to reshape their attacking options. This represents a significant shift after investing heavily in the France international just twelve months ago.

Managerial verdict and pre-season

According to Onze Mondial, manager Ruben Amorim has decided Nkunku does not feature in his plans for the upcoming season. The attacker managed two pre-season appearances, scoring against rivals Inter Milan, but these displays failed to convince the Portuguese coach of his suitability.

Villa’s interest signals a potential return to English football for Nkunku, who previously struggled for consistent minutes at Chelsea before his move to Italy. With several European clubs now circling, Milan must decide whether to sanction a temporary departure or push for a permanent sale to recover their investment.

The competition for Nkunku’s signature reflects his continued reputation despite a difficult spell in Milan. His prior success in the Bundesliga, where he developed into one of Europe’s most versatile attackers, maintains his appeal to clubs seeking reinforcements before the transfer window closes.
