Como submit opening offer for Colombian centre-back
Serie A newcomers Como have made an opening bid of approximately €20 million for Galatasaray defender Davinson Sánchez, though the Turkish champions are demanding significantly more to sanction the transfer.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian club’s proposal includes add-ons but falls short of Galatasaray’s valuation, which stands between €25 million and €30 million. The Turkish club’s asking price has reportedly increased following Sánchez’s performances for Colombia at the 2026 World Cup.
Financial obstacles remain
Beyond the transfer fee, Como face a substantial hurdle in meeting the player’s wage demands. Sánchez currently earns in excess of €3 million net per season, a figure that presents significant challenges for the Serie A side due to Italy’s taxation regime. The Turkish Super Lig operates under different tax rules that allow clubs to offer more lucrative net salaries than their Italian counterparts, making wage parity difficult to achieve.
From Ajax to Istanbul via North London
The Colombia international, who turns 31 this weekend, joined Galatasaray from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 for €9.5 million. This followed a six-year spell in North London that began when Spurs paid Ajax €42 million for his services in 2017.
Como had initially pursued Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah but have since shifted their focus to the more experienced Sánchez as they seek to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the new campaign.
What happens next
The Lariani must now decide whether to increase their offer to meet Galatasaray’s demands or negotiate a compromise on the fee structure. With the Turkish side under no immediate pressure to sell after securing the player permanently last year, Como may need to improve their proposal significantly to secure the Colombian’s signature before the transfer window closes.
