Hoffenheim have reached a verbal agreement with Anderlecht midfielder De Cat over personal terms on a long-term contract until 2031, though negotiations between the Bundesliga club and the Belgian Pro League side are yet to begin.

According to Sky Germany, the 17-year-old Belgium international has accepted terms on the six-year deal. However, significant work remains before the transfer can be finalised, with talks between the two clubs expected to commence shortly.

Breakthrough season

De Cat established himself as a first-team regular during the most recent campaign, making 36 league appearances for Anderlecht. The teenager contributed two goals and four assists, further enhancing his reputation as one of the country’s most promising prospects.

His rapid development earned international recognition in March when he made his senior debut for Belgium. The midfielder came off the bench during a friendly match against the United States, capping an impressive breakthrough year.

Hoffenheim’s recruitment drive

The pursuit of De Cat forms part of an active summer strategy for the Bundesliga club. Hoffenheim have also reached a verbal agreement with NEC Nijmegen midfielder Kodai Sano, demonstrating their intent to strengthen the squad with emerging talent from the Benelux region.

Transfer status

While personal terms are settled with De Cat, the structure of any transfer fee and payment terms between Hoffenheim and Anderlecht remain subject to negotiation. The deal is not yet complete.

Should the clubs reach an agreement, the Belgian teenager would join Hoffenheim’s first-team setup ahead of the upcoming Bundesliga season, bringing creativity and international experience despite his youth.
