Yan Diomande has returned to RB Leipzig‘s training camp as negotiations with Real Madrid resumed on Monday, with the Bundesliga club demanding at least €120 million for the Ivory Coast international.
The 19-year-old defender trained on a managed workload to avoid unnecessary risks, Sky Germany reports, following his post-World Cup vacation. His presence at the facility comes amid advanced talks between the clubs, which continued after breakthrough discussions on Sunday.
Real Madrid have submitted a second bid valued at €115 million, yet Leipzig are holding out for a higher guaranteed fee rather than accepting performance-related bonuses. According to Sky Sports, the Saxony club want the deal structured with a very high guaranteed base plus easily achievable add-ons to reach the €120 million valuation.
Sell-on clause and payment terms
Discussions remain ongoing regarding payment structures and sell-on clauses, with no final agreement yet in place. CD Leganés are contractually entitled to receive between five and eight per cent of any transfer fee, having sold Diomande to Leipzig for €20 million just last summer.
Conflicting assessments
Both Sky Sports and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano identify Real Madrid as clear favourites to complete the signing this week, though they differ on how close the deal is to completion.
Sky reports that negotiations continue over financial details, while Romano has already declared “Here We Go” on the transfer, suggesting the total sum and conditions have been settled. Diomande has permission to complete the move once an agreement is reached between the clubs.
Record transfer looms
The prospective deal would surpass Leipzig’s current record sale of €90 million, received from Manchester City for Josko Gvardiol in 2023. The club have already rejected multiple offers exceeding €100 million for Diomande this window.
Should the transfer proceed at the mooted €120 million figure, it would represent a remarkable six-fold increase on the fee Leipzig paid to secure his services from Leganés twelve months ago.
