RB Leipzig have intensified their search for a new goalkeeper as captain Péter Gulácsi edges closer to a summer switch to Spanish side Villarreal. The Champions League participants have identified FC Augsburg’s Finn Dahmen as a potential successor, though the 28-year-old currently intends to honour his contract in Bavaria.
According to reports, Leipzig officials have made formal enquiries about the Wiesbaden native’s availability ahead of the new campaign. The Germany international featured in every Bundesliga match for Augsburg last season and stands just three appearances shy of reaching a century in Germany’s top flight.
Dahmen’s stance presents a challenge for the Saxony-based club. His contract with Augsburg runs until the end of the upcoming season rather than expiring this summer, and he has indicated a desire to stay put for now. This leaves Leipzig exploring alternatives as they prepare for the departure of their long-serving Hungarian shot-stopper.

Should Dahmen reconsider and make the switch to Leipzig, he would face immediate competition for the starting role. Belgian goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt, signed from Genk, is already at the club and vying to establish himself as the first choice between the posts.
