Torino are on the verge of securing Pietro Comuzzo from Fiorentina in a deal worth €20 million. Multiple sources indicate the clubs have reached a full agreement on a loan with an option to buy structure for the Italy international defender.
The 21-year-old will join Torino initially on a season-long loan costing €1 million. The arrangement includes a €19 million option to make the transfer permanent in June 2027, giving the Turin club flexibility in their financial planning while securing the player’s services immediately.
Deal structure and competition
The agreement represents a significant investment for Torino, who have beaten competition from several Serie A rivals to secure the centre-back. Lazio and Sassuolo had both expressed interest in acquiring Comuzzo, but Torino are now finalising the contractual details of the transfer.
Comuzzo could complete his medical examinations and sign the contract within the next 24 hours. This would bring a swift conclusion to negotiations that have accelerated rapidly in recent days, marking a departure from a failed attempt to sell the player during the January transfer window.
Player pedigree and experience
Despite his relatively young age, Comuzzo arrives with substantial senior experience at club and international level. He has made 91 competitive appearances for Fiorentina, scoring twice, after establishing himself as a regular member of the first team squad from 2023 onwards.
The defender has also earned two senior caps for the Italian national team. He began his youth career at Udinese before switching to Fiorentina’s academy system in 2019. He progressed steadily through the ranks to become a key figure in their defensive setup over the past two seasons.
The move offers Comuzzo the opportunity for continued regular first-team football in Serie A while allowing Torino to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the new campaign. The loan structure provides both clubs with financial protection, with Fiorentina retaining the possibility of a permanent sale next year should the player impress at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.
