Roma’s hopes of signing Crysencio Summerville appear to be fading as Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal prepare to outbid the Serie A club for the West Ham United winger. The development comes amid growing frustration for Juventus, who remain unable to finalise a deal for Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani.
Saudi financial muscle trumps Roma offer
The Giallorossi had seen a bid worth around €50m accepted by West Ham and believed they were close to securing the Dutch international. However, Al-Hilal have since entered the race with a proposal worth approximately €80m including add-ons, alongside a salary of €15m per season.
Roma have reportedly offered Summerville €4m annually and are attempting to persuade him through sporting arguments, including Champions League football and the presence of compatriot Donyell Malen. Head coach Gian Piero Gasperini is also said to be involved in the recruitment effort. Despite these appeals, the player is now expected to choose the financially superior Saudi proposal.
Should Summerville opt for Al-Hilal, Roma have identified alternatives including Andreas Schjelderup, Antonio Nusa and Diego Moreira.
Juventus attacking options dwindle
Juventus are facing mounting urgency in their search for strikers after weeks of failed negotiations with PSG for Kolo Muani. The French club are demanding €50m for the forward, a fee the Bianconeri are unlikely to match despite the player having agreed personal terms weeks ago.
The situation leaves Juventus with limited immediate options. With Jonathan David on holiday following World Cup duty and Jeff Ekhator injured, only Arkadiusz Milik and Lois Openda are currently available to lead the line. Openda has attracted interest from Monaco, Rennes and Coventry City, though Juventus must retain him for now.
The Turin side are also monitoring Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta and Lille’s Jonathan David, while Colombian defender John Lucumí remains a target at the back. Bologna director Claudio Fenucci has confirmed Lucumí will be allowed to leave if a suitable offer arrives.
Chelsea defenders attract Serie A interest
Across the peninsula, clubs are monitoring Chelsea’s defensive surplus. Roma have made contact regarding Axel Disasi, with the London club demanding €20m for the centre-back. He joins a growing list of Stamford Bridge defenders linked with Italy.
Napoli have enquired about Benoît Badiashile, while Como maintain interest in Trevoh Chalobah despite having two bids rejected for the €35m-rated player. Inter Milan have cooled their interest in Chalobah but are pursuing Tottenham’s Cristian Romero, who has given the green light for a move. Spurs are demanding €50m for the Argentine centre-back.
Confirmed transfers
Amid the speculation, two deals have been finalised. Fiorentina midfielder Antonín Barak has officially joined APOEL Nicosia, while Venezia are set to sign Nigeria international Akor Adams for a club-record fee of €17m plus add-ons.
