AS Monaco have turned down a €45 million offer from Paris Saint-Germain for attacking midfielder Maghnes Akliouche, according to L’Équipe. The refusal marks the third time PSG have seen an approach for the 24-year-old dismissed during this transfer window.
The Ligue 1 side are reportedly demanding €70 million to sanction the departure of the French international, who remains under contract at the Stade Louis II until 2028. Monaco’s firm stance reflects Akliouche’s importance to the squad after he established himself as a regular starter last term, beginning 42 of his 43 appearances and contributing seven goals and 11 assists across all competitions.
PSG reluctant to meet valuation
Despite the repeated setbacks, PSG intend to maintain their interest in the Tremblay-en-France native. However, the Parisian club are unwilling to match Monaco’s asking price and have made clear they will not overpay for the player, who has earned 10 caps for France.
The situation leaves the French champions in a delicate position as they weigh their need for attacking reinforcements against Monaco’s determination to retain one of their most productive assets. With two previous bids already dismissed, any future approach would need to significantly bridge the €25 million gap between the recent €45 million offer and the Monegasque demands.
Liverpool positioned to capitalise
Premier League side Liverpool are also monitoring Akliouche closely and could step up their interest if negotiations between PSG and Monaco continue to stall. The Merseyside club have yet to submit a formal bid, but their presence in the race provides Monaco with alternative options should the Parisians withdraw.
For now, the principality club remain in a commanding negotiating position. Akliouche’s contract runs for another three years, ensuring Monaco are under no immediate pressure to sell despite the sustained interest from two of Europe’s wealthiest clubs. The player himself started the majority of matches last season, underlining his status as a key component of the team’s domestic and European ambitions.
