Antonio Conte has told Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis that he plans to leave the club when the current campaign ends. The Italian tactician will walk away from the Stadio Maradona once the 2025-26 season finishes this weekend.

Sources close to the Serie A side suggest Conte will exit through a mutual consent agreement. This arrangement means the 55-year-old will depart without claiming compensation from the Naples outfit.

Conte is reportedly one of three high-profile managers in the running for the Italy national team position. Massimiliano Allegri and Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola are also candidates for the vacant Azzurri role.

Napoli have already started their search for a new head coach. Italian media reports indicate that two experienced managers stand at the top of the shortlist.

Maurizio Sarri represents the first option. The 67-year-old currently manages Lazio, though his future in Rome remains uncertain. Sarri previously enjoyed a successful three-year spell at Napoli between 2015 and 2018 before Carlo Ancelotti took charge.

Massimiliano Allegri serves as the second primary target. The former Juventus boss could move to the Stadio Maradona if he decides to leave AC Milan at the end of this season.

Sassuolo coach Fabio Grosso also appears on Napoli’s list of possibilities. Meanwhile, Atalanta manager Raffaele Palladino and Bologna coach Vincenzo Italiano remain under consideration, though sources describe them as secondary options rather than priority appointments.
