Former Bologna head coach Vincenzo Italiano looks set to move to Turkey. Besiktas have put forward a formal offer for the Italian coach. The deal would last two years and pay him €6 million each season.
Journalist Alfredo Pedullà reports that the Istanbul club has also set aside €2.5 million per year for Italiano’s coaching team. Talks are now moving fast as both sides work to finish the agreement.
Italiano left Bologna recently. Many fans expected him to stay in one of Europe’s top five leagues. Napoli had considered him as a possible replacement for Antonio Conte. However, Napoli chose to hire Massimiliano Allegri instead.
This decision opened the door for Besiktas to act quickly. The Turkish club’s offer is very attractive. If he accepts, Italiano will become one of the highest-paid managers in the Super Lig.
The move marks a change for the 46-year-old coach. He had expected to remain in a top European league after his Bologna exit.
