Juventus sporting director Giovanni Carnevali has spoken directly with Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi to explore the possible acquisitions of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and striker Richarlison.
The discussions mark a reunion for the two Italians, who previously collaborated at Sassuolo between 2018 and 2021. Carnevali was the director who appointed De Zerbi at the Emilia-Romagna club, and they worked together for three years before De Zerbi departed.
Vicario targeted after Martínez withdrawal
Vicario has become Juventus’s leading goalkeeping option following Aston Villa’s decision to retain Emiliano Martínez. The Italy international joined Tottenham from Empoli in 2023 and has established himself as first choice under De Zerbi.
Carnevali contacted De Zerbi specifically to assess Tottenham’s willingness to negotiate for the 28-year-old shot-stopper. Vicario is contracted to Spurs until 2028, meaning any transfer would require a substantial offer.
Richarlison fallback for Kolo Muani
Juventus are also considering Richarlison as an alternative attacking reinforcement. The 29-year-old Brazil forward has entered the final 12 months of his Tottenham contract and appears reluctant to extend his stay in North London.
Tottenham value Richarlison at approximately €25 million, though he remains a secondary target for the Turin giants. Juventus retain hope of securing Randal Kolo Muani on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, with the Frenchman representing the club’s primary objective despite his disappointing spell at Spurs last term.
La Gazzetta dello Sport notes that Richarlison outperformed Kolo Muani in front of goal during the previous campaign, scoring 12 times compared to the Frenchman’s five efforts whilst both were at Tottenham.
The Bianconeri are seeking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Serie A campaign and view the Premier League duo as viable options should their pursuit of Kolo Muani prove unsuccessful. Further negotiations are expected as Juventus look to resolve their goalkeeping and attacking priorities before the transfer window closes.
