Paris Saint-Germain have tabled a formal €33m offer to Parma for goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, leapfrogging Juventus in the race to sign the Japan international. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that the French champions have accelerated negotiations and opened direct talks with the player’s camp, giving them a decisive edge in the pursuit.
The proposal exceeds Parma’s expected valuation of approximately €30m for the 23-year-old shot-stopper. Suzuki has accumulated 57 top-flight appearances for the Italian side and is tied to the club until 2029. He also serves as the first-choice goalkeeper for the Japanese national team. During the 2025-26 season, he featured in 22 matches, recording six clean sheets.
Chevalier’s uncertain future
The aggressive pursuit of Suzuki casts fresh doubt on Lucas Chevalier’s position at the Parc des Princes. PSG invested €40m to recruit the French goalkeeper from Lille OSC last summer, yet manager Luis Enrique has relegated him to a substitute role throughout the second half of the campaign. The Spain coach reportedly retains long-term reservations about Chevalier’s suitability as the club’s first-choice keeper.
Chevalier remains determined to fight for the number one jersey. Nevertheless, Suzuki’s potential arrival would significantly alter the hierarchy, likely consigning the 24-year-old to the bench and forcing him to reassess his future.
Juventus face uphill struggle
Juventus had targeted Suzuki as part of their goalkeeping rebuild but now find themselves trailing PSG after the latter’s concrete financial commitment. The Turin club must determine whether to submit a rival bid or pursue alternative targets, with Romano suggesting the Parisians currently hold the advantage.
Parma must now weigh the merits of accepting the €33m package. Suzuki would join a squad competing for domestic and European honours, though questions remain over his immediate playing prospects given PSG’s existing options between the posts. Earlier reports suggested the French club could sign the Japanese international and loan him back to guarantee regular minutes.
